Officials in central China's Hubei Province organized a special seminar in the city of on September 15 to help female officials from developing countries develop their competence.

The event was hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, co-sponsored by China Women's University and supported by Hubei Women Cadres School and Wuhan Women's Federation, with the aim to promote communication and cooperation among women from

A total of 41 officials from 13 countries attended the seminar.

Participants made a five-day inspection tour in local communities and enterprises to learn about experience concerning innovation and entrepreneurship, new countryside construction and social governance.

President Xi Jinping said at the Global Leaders' Meeting on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment, held in 2015, that "In the coming five years, we will host 30,000 women from developing countries for training programs in China and provide 100,000 skills training opportunities for local communities in other developing countries."

The seminar was held as part of efforts made by China to complete this target.

Peng Limin, president and secretary of the Party Group of Hubei Women's Federation (HWF), attended the welcome ceremony for the seminar and delivered a speech.

Peng said China, as the largest developing country in the world, has been cooperating with developing countries for a long time and has made remarkable achievements in promoting the common development of mankind and safeguarding world peace.

As one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization, Hubei should accelerate development and become a new channel for China's multi-directional opening-up.

Peng hoped all visitors could enjoy the beauty of Hubei, develop friendly relations with Chinese women and achieve common development.

Gao Qin, vice president of HWF, gave a lecture at the event.

Gao introduced the achievements made by Hubei women in different areas, such as the reform of women's federations, the construction of grassroots organizations, women's innovation and entrepreneurship, poverty alleviation and the building of new countryside.

Later, officials from different countries participated in a discussion.

Topics included "How to encourage women to participate in social governance?", "How to enhance women's status in developing countries?", "How to strengthen the construction of women's federations?", "How to promote women's innovation and entrepreneurship?" and "How to strengthen Hubei women's exchange with women in other countries?"
